The business that ultimately became The Pearl Strand first began in 1996, when founder Judi Spriggel and her husband Bob traveled to the interior of China to work for Caterpillar. Due to the remote location, Judi was thankful to occasionally leave the interior and visit Beijing. There she spent time at the Pearl Market shopping and learning about pearls. Occasionally, she bought pearls for herself as well as relatives and friends back in the United States. Each time she came home to the United States for a short break, friends would ask Judi to bring pearls back for them and she was more than happy to do so.
When Judi and Bob moved to Beijing in January of 1999, Judi was able to visit the Pearl Market frequently. Judi began developing her hobby into a business and became diligent about learning who would supply the highest quality at the best price. Judi says, "I knew that if our business was to be successful, we needed to provide quality pearl jewelry at prices everyone could afford." When she moved back to the US in 2001, Judi created a number of pearl jewelry designs to sell to family and friends. The more people bought, the more they wanted.
Incorporated as The Pearl Strand in 2002, the business has spread to several states and is continuing to flourish. Our phenomenal growth is due to the value-priced unique jewelry and our motivated, energetic professional consultants who are building profitable businesses of their own.
